Wingfoil Spots in Fuerteventura
At my wingfoil school here in Fuerteventura, I get a lot of questions about finding the right spot for the day. There are many wingfoil spots around the island and each place has different conditions depending on the wind, tide, and your experience level. That’s why it can sometimes be hard to know where to go.
In this guide, I have put together some of my favorite wingfoil spots in Fuerteventura. See you there! 
Wingfoil Spots in North Fuerteventura
Here are the wingfoil spots in North Fuerteventura. There are plenty of places with different conditions. Some calm and easy, others with waves and wind for the more experienced.
Corralejo Bay (Waikiki Beach & Rocky Point) - at beach "Los Verilitos"
This is a spot right in the middle of Corralejo Town, which makes it easy to get to (even by walking, without a car). Corralejo Bay has flat and calm water, thanks to the breakwall by the harbor. The usual north to north-east wind gives steady side-shore conditions, which are great for beginners or for practicing turns and jibes. It’s also easy to go in the water here.
From Waikiki, if you go more to the right, you can reach another spot called “Rocky Point” where you can catch some waves. To get waves, it’s better in the winter period. But to get strong wind, it’s best in the summer.
Once you’re done with your session, a whole row of beach bars is just steps away from this spot. That’s something you won’t find at many other spots around the island, which tend to be more remote and quiet.

Majanicho
Majanicho is a more expert spot, great if you want a bit more challenge. It’s also a popular surf spot and loved by windsurfers, kiters, and wingfoilers.
When there is no wind, you can surf here. Just like Waikiki, there is a big flat water area to start and practice. But if you want waves, you can go further out and catch some.
Majanicho works with wind from all directions, which makes it a flexible place to sai but the spot can be a little trickier than Corralejo Bay.
Winter is the best time here because the swell brings better waves. In summer, waves come sometimes but they are usually smaller.

Flag Beach
Flag Beach is one of those spots we always keep an eye on. It’s just a couple minutes from Corralejo and easy to get to. When the wind comes from the north or northwest (usually April to August), it can give really nice wingfoil sessions.
The beach is sandy, but… There are many rocks in the water, especially at low tide. If you want to ride your foil here, it’s best to go in at high tide to avoid the rocks.
Flag Beach works really well when there is a big swell, mostly during winter. Usually, the water is flat or choppy, but when the swell comes, it’s great for catching waves with your wingfoil. The waves here only come in winter with bigger swells.
When the wind is off-shore (but it’s most of the time on-shore), it can be a bit tricky. Also together with the rocks. I usually recommend Flag Beach for riders who are already comfortable riding upwind and handling gusty conditions.

Puerto Lajas (Puerto de las Lajas)
If you’re looking for waves, Puerto Lajas is a great spot to check out. It’s about 25 minutes from Corralejo and really popular for windsurfers too. The waves here come mostly from wind swell, so it works best in the summer when the wind is blowing from the north.
The reef creates some nice waves, and the spot only works well with winds from the north direction. Getting into the water is pretty easy, so it’s a nice place to practice your wave riding without too much hassle.
I always tell people to give Puerto Lajas a try if they want a bit more challenge and some fun waves, close to Corralejo.

💡 Good to know! All the spots work all the year around. It’s a lighter wind in the winter than in the summer, but it works anyway.
Wingfoil Spots in South Fuerteventura
The south coast of Fuerteventura has also some great wingfoil spots with a bit different conditions compared to the north.
Sotavento
Sotavento is a really nice spot on the east side of the island, close to Costa Calma and Morro Jable. It has a big sandy beach and is one of those places you will see when you search for Fuerteventura.
There is a big lagoon here, but it’s mainly for windsurfing and kiteboarding. You don’t go wingfoiling inside the lagoon.
In the summer, the wind is very strong and gusty, usually coming side-off. It can be a bit challenging but also a lot of fun if you’re ready for it.
Even if it would not be the best conditions for watersports when you’re there, Sotavento is still a beautiful place to visit. Especially at high tide when the lagoon fills up.

Matas Blancas
Matas Blancas is a small and quiet spot just next to Costa Calma, on the east coast of the island. The water here is super flat, one of the flattest spots in Fuerteventura.
It works best with north wind, which is most common. When the wind comes from the north, it’s side-offshore here, which makes the water extra flat and smooth. Perfect for practicing speed, jibes, or just cruising.
There’s a school based right at the spot, and it’s a good place for more controlled training. Just keep in mind that the wind can be offshore, so it’s better if you already feel comfortable staying upwind.

Costa Calma
Costa Calma is a nice city spot on the east coast of Fuerteventura. It has a big sandy beach with bars, hotels, and everything close by. You can even walk straight from your hotel to the water.
The spot works with north wind, which is common here. The wind is usually side-off, so the water can be pretty flat. It’s not as wild or remote as some other places, but that can be great. Easy access, nice atmosphere and good conditions when the wind is right.

La Pared
La Pared is a spot for advanced riders only. It’s on the west coast and much more exposed than other places on the island. More waves, more power, and definitely more challenge.
It’s mostly known as a surf spot, with strong swell and beautiful wave conditions. Wingfoiling here is only for very experienced riders, as the conditions are not easy and can be quite rough.
Even if you’re not riding, La Pared is worth a visit. The cliffs and ocean view are super nice. La Pared is a small place with not much around. There is a hotel, a nice little café in town (Cafe Caveto) and a restaurant by the beach (Caretta Beach).
You’ll need a car to get there, but it’s a special spot that feels wild and raw.

Tarajalejo
Tarajalejo is a small and quiet village on the east coast. It’s not one of the main wingfoil spots, but when the wind comes from the east, it can actually get pretty strong here. And it’s possible to ride.
I used to live in Tarajalejo before when I was living in south of Fuerte, and had some really nice sessions right in front of the village.
It’s not a spot you plan a trip around, but when the conditions line up, it’s a great little bonus. The village of Tarajalejo also has a calm, local vibe.

💡 Quick fact: In the south, all north wind gets to off-shore wind. Sometimes in the winter you can have some south wind which is onshore though, and more wavy.
